✅ A correctly situated oil tank
This oil tank is correctly located and obeys all the OFTEC guidance.
The tank is a new double skin oil tank and it is on a level sturdy base. There is adequate clearance all around the tank, with the base extending to at least 300mm. The oil tank can easily be inspected and the oil line is sheathed.
🚫 A dangerous oil tank
This oil tank is incorrectly located and is not in keeping with the OFTEC guidance.
The tank is an old single skin oil tank that has a poor base. There is poor clearance all around the tank, with no base and no clearance of at least 300mm.
The oil tank cannot easily be inspected and the oil line is not sheathed and at high risk of damage. This scenario is common in properties who do not keep adequate oil in their tank and tip the tank. This should not be done.
